Ryan Whaley Accident Alabama Power Death, Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ryan Scott Whaley, 33, of Daviston, Alabama. A devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend, Ryan left this world too soon but left behind a lasting legacy of love, laughter, and selflessness. His life was a shining example of kindness, dedication, and faith, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Born to Scott Whaley and the late Kristi Greene, Ryan grew up surrounded by love and support. A proud graduate of Sylacauga High School, class of 2011, he excelled both academically and athletically, playing on the football and golf teams. His small-town upbringing instilled in him a strong sense of community, responsibility, and compassion—qualities that guided him throughout his life.

Ryan dedicated 13 years of his life to Alabama Power, where he worked as a lineman. His commitment to his work was matched by the care he showed to his colleagues, many of whom became like family. Known for his hard work, reliability, and generosity, Ryan left a lasting impact not only in his profession but in the hearts of those he worked alongside.

Family was Ryan’s greatest joy. He is survived by his loving wife of six years, Hayden Whaley; their children, Hadley Waites and Hudson Whaley; his father, Scott Whaley; father- and mother-in-law, Dale and Donna McCain; sister, Kendall (James) Lodge; brother, Aiden Whaley; grandmothers Amy Barnett and Marnetha McCain; grandfather, Jimmy Whaley; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. His love for his family was evident in every smile, every joke, and every moment he shared with them.

Ryan was a man of many passions. Whether cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide, enjoying golf or the outdoors, or sharing memorable family vacations at the beach and mountains, he approached life with enthusiasm, joy, and a spirit that uplifted everyone around him. Those who knew him remember his quick wit, infectious smile, and selfless nature. He was always the first to lend a hand, and his generosity touched countless lives.

Ryan was preceded in death by his mother, Kristi Greene; step-mother, Brandy Whaley; grandfathers Roger Barnett, Ellis Benton Kelley, Leon McCain; and grandmother Betty Whaley.

As we say goodbye, we honor a life lived fully, a life of love, faith, and service. Ryan’s spirit will continue to inspire, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace until we meet again.
